The Northern Illinois Huskies visit the Akron Zips on Saturday in a Mid-American Conference showdown. The Huskies are 6-1. After starting the season with a loss to Iowa, they have won six games in a row. Akron is looking to avoid its third consecutive one-win season. The Zips are currently 1-6.
But things haven't been completely negative for Akron. The Zips narrowly missed a comeback victory against No. 25 Ohio this past weekend. Akron lost, 34-28, but scored the final 14 points of the game, and gave Ohio a good scare.
Northern Illinois has not played a close game since their one-point victory over Army on Sept. 15. In the four weeks since then, the Huskies have outscored their opponents 165-73. Their offense ranks first the MAC, averaging 36.9 points per game.
Northern Illinois and Akron have met four times since 2004, and Akron's lone win in that series came in 2005.
Saturday's game is scheduled to kick off at noon on Saturday, Oct. 20.
