2012 NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round Predictions And Previews

New, 1 comment

After only going 2-2 in the first round of the playoffs, how will I do in week 2?

We are entering what some people consider the best weekend in the NFL season. Fans should be treated to some great games this weekend with two games on both Saturday and Sunday.

In the first week of the playoffs I went 2-2. I thought the Bengals would put up a better effort and also didn't see the Broncos beating the Steelers. Here is how I see this weeks games.

New Orleans 27 San Francisco 17

The 49ers were a great story this season and not many saw them winning the #2 seed in the NFC. Unfortunately I don't see the niners playoff success to mirror the success they had in the regular season. I really like their defense and Frank Gore is a nice running back.

The Saints are as hot as anyone. Their offense seems to be in as much of a groove as anyone. Drew Brees is playing so well, and their defense is playing good, but not great.

I don't see the 49ers scoring enough points on offense and although their defense has played great I can't see them completely stopping Brees and the Saints. I like the Saints by 10 points in what should be a good game.

New England 31 Denver 13

What a great game last week for the Broncos. Tim Tebow was able to make some plays with his arm and their defense played well.

This week they get to face Tom Brady and the Patriots which will be a much tougher test. The Broncos have to hit the road and New England just blasted them a few weeks ago in Denver.

Tom Brady is as good as they get in the postseason. I don't see Denver lasting in this game for long, but stranger things have happened.

I like the Patriots big in this one.

Baltimore 24 Houston 10

The Texans had a great playoff debut. They ran the ball well with Arian Foster, and T.J. Yates made enough plays through the air and their defense was also able to make plays.

The Ravens are one of the best teams in football. Ray Rice had a fantastic season and their defense is still real good.

Houston was a great story this season and will be a playoff team for the next several seasons. I like Baltimore winning this game which will set up an entertaining AFC Championship Game Next week.

NY Giants 28 Green Bay 24

No this isn't a typo. I know the Packers were 15-1 this season, but they are by no means perfect. They have some holes on the offensive line that I think the excellent Giants pass rush will expose. I like the combination of Bradshaw and Jacobs against an average Packers run defense.

Eli Manning when on is a very good quarterback. I also like the Giants receiving corp of Victor Cruz, Mario Manningham, and Hakeem Nicks.

If the Giants can pressure Aaron Rodgers, and aren't stupid on offense I think they can shock the world. I say they can which is why I think the Giants will beat the Packers in a very close game.
