Cubs Go For Series Win Against Astros

Saturday is a very important day for Cubs pitcher Randy Wells. Wells is pitching for his future in the Cubs rotation. Another bad outing and the Cubs righty could go from the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field to the corn fields of Triple-A Iowa. Randy Wells has struggled all season for the Cubs. His only win was his first start back in April. In Wells's defense he has been bothered by injuries for part of the season. No better time to turn his season around than Saturday against the last-place Houston Astros.

Randy Wells enters Saturday's game against Houston with a 1-3 record and an ERA of 6.71. In his last nine starts Wells is 0-3 with an ERA of 7.38. The Cubs right-hander will be making his first start against Houston this season. Wells struggled against Houston last season going 0-3 with an ERA of 6.88 in three outings.

One Cub who has been hotter than the weather is Aramis Ramirez. The Cubs third basemen is hitting .378 with 13 homeruns and 27 RBI's over his last 26 games.

The Astros will send their ace Wandy Rodriguez to the mound Saturday. Rodriguez is 6-6 on the season with an ERA of 3.67.  The Astros lefty is having a tough July. Rodriguez is 0-2 with an ERA of 7.41 in three starts this month. In his career against the Cubs, Rodriguez is 5-5 with an ERA of 4.04 in 17 starts.

The forecast at the time of first pitch is temps in the 80's with a chance for storms. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 CST. The game can be seen on CSN.
