The White Sox look to continue their run of good play as they prepare for an AL Central run with another game against divisional foe Kansas City on Tuesday night. Despite having a decent amount of success against the Royals this season, Sox starter Jake Peavy is just 1-2 with an ERA over 5 against Kansas City. He'll look to change that as he takes the mound for the Sox.
Peavy, 4-3 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, is coming off a poor start against the Twins in which he took the loss after giving up five runs on ten hits and two walks over just 4.1 innings pitched. He only struck out two in that appearance. In his last game against Kansas City this season, Peavy threw six innings, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four. Jeff Francoeur is 2-for-3 against Peavy this season, while Alcides Escobar is 1-for-3 with a triple.
The Royals will send Danny Duffy to the mound to counter Peavy. Duffy, 1-4 with a 4.85 ERA and 1.65 WHIP, has been a bit of a hard luck loser for the Royals this year. In his last start he took the loss despite throwing well, giving up just two runs on four hits and one walk over six innings pitched, while striking out six. He has never pitched against the White Sox.
The weather in Kansas City is expected to be sunny and hot, with a game time temperature in the low 90's. First pitch is at 7:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on WCIU and FSKC.
