Cubs Try To Turn Around Skid Against Reds

After losing their seventh straight game on Monday evening, the Cubs are searching for anyone who can lead them to a victory again. On Tuesday they'll see if Doug Davis can turn his season around and get them a badly needed win.

Davis has had a bit of a rough season filling in in the Cubs rotation. On the year, he's 0-4 with a 5.95 ERA and 1.73 WHIP. Davis is coming off of a start against Houston in which he gave up three runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings pitched, but took the loss anyway. In his career against Cincinnati, Davis is 6-3 with a 3.31 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Joey Votto is 2-for-4 against Davis in his career with a double.

Pitching for the Reds will be recently returned starter Edinson Volquez. After some early season troubles,  Volquez had a brief stint in the minor leagues, where he was 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA. Now he's been recalled and the Reds are hoping he can carry that performance back into the majors. In his career against the Cubs, he's 3-0 with a 2.43 ERA and 1.02 WHIP.

The weather in Cincinnati is expected to be clear and hot, with a game time temperature in the upper-80s. First pitch will be at 6:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on CSN and FS-O.
