Peavy,White Sox Look To Win Series Against Tigers

With the Cleveland Indians starting to falter, the Twins having their worst season in years, and the Royals still a few years aways, the AL Central is starting to look like it will come down to the White Sox and Tigers. The Tigers have had the Sox number recently. Prior to Friday night's game the Tigers had won nine in a row against the South siders. The Sox will look to change that momentum when they go for the series win Sunday against their rivals from Detroit.

Jake Peavy will take the mound for the Sox on Sunday. Peavy has been great for the Sox this season. Sunday will be the right handers fifth start of the season. In his previous four starts Peavy is 2-0 with an ERA of 3.24. More importantly the Sox have won all four games that he has started.

Paul Konerko is expected to miss his third consecutive game. Konerko had a procedure done Friday to remove loose fragments in his wrist. The Sox are hoping to have Konerko back in their next series against the Mariners.

On the hill for the Tigers Sunday will be veteran Brad Penny. Penny has been a pleasant surprise for Detroit this season. He comes into Sunday's game with a 4-4 record and an ERA of 4.72. This will be the first time Brad Penny will pitch at US Cellular Field.

The forecast at the time of first pitch is sunny with temps in the mid-70's. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 CST. The game can be seen on WGN.
