Sox Go For Series Win In Trip Finale

Sunday's series finale between the White Sox and Diamondbacks  have a lot of sub-plots that don't look good for the Sox. Joe West will be behind home plate which in the past seems to be a scapegoat for anything that goes wrong. Monday starts the cross-town classic which could result in the temptation to look ahead. The Sox are facing a pitcher they've never seen which history shows isn't a good omen for Sox hitters. Hopefully these mental distractions won't be taken on the field and the Sox can head home with a series win.

Philip Humber will take the mound Sunday for the Sox (34-38). Humber has been fantastic all season. The righty comes in with a 6-3 record and an ERA of 2.95. Humber will be looking for his fourth consecutive win on Sunday. This will be the first time he has faced Arizona (39-33).

Rookie Josh Collmenter gets the start for the Diamondbacks. Collmenter is 4-2 on the season with an ERA of 1.86. The D-backs righty is coming off his only bad start of the season. Tuesday Collmenter gave up five runs in five innings to the San Francisco Giants. In his 13 previous appearances before Tuesday's starts Collmenter had only given up a combined six runs. This will be the first time he will face an American League team.

The forecast at the time of first pitch is temps outside near 100 degrees, but nice and comfortable with the roof closed. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 CST. The game can be seen on CSN.
