Fans of the Chicago Cubs really haven't had a lot to cheer about or get excited about this season. They are 11 games under .500 and haven't had a winning streak more than two games in a row all season. It might just be a brief hot streak, but the Cubs are having a great week. It started out with taking three of four from Milwaukee and then Friday shut down the prolific New York Yankees offense in game one of the series.
The Cubs (29-40) have the right man on the mound to continue this recent stretch of good baseball. Ryan Dempster gets the start on Saturday. Dempster (5-5) is 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA in his last four starts at the friendly confines. This will be the first time Dempster has faced the Yankees since 2001 when he was a member of the Florida Marlins.
A.J. Burnett gets the start for the Yankees Saturday. Burnett comes in with a 6-5 record and an ERA of 4.09. The righty is coming off a great outing in which he was the tough luck loser giving up just one run to the Indians on Monday. Burnett has made four career starts against the Cubs and is 3-0 in those starts.
The forecast at the time of first pitch is temps near 80 degrees with a slight chance of storms. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 CST. The game can be seen on Fox.
