After their Thursday night loss to the Sox at the Cell, the A's losing streak has been run to ten games. Now, the White Sox will look to continue their trend of good play and push that streak to eleven.
Pitching for the Sox will be Edwin Jackson. Jackson has had his ups and downs on the year and is currently sitting at 4-5 with a 4.50 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. In his last start, he threw six quality innings, giving up just two runs on seven hits. In his last game against Oakland, at the beginning of the season, he threw just 4.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits. In that game, Daric Barton was 3-for-3 with a double, and Hideki Matsui was 2-for-3, also with a double.
The A's will start Graham Godfrey to try to get back on track. Godfrey will be making his first major league start on Friday, replacing Brett Anderson in the rotation after Anderson went on the DL. In triple A, Godfrey was 7-1 with 51 strikeouts in just over 54 innings.
The weather in Chicago is expected to be cloudy, with a game time temperature in the upper 70's and a strong chance of severe thunderstorms. First pitch, weather permitting, will be at 7:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on CSN+.
