Doug Davis And Cubs Try To Avoid Sweep By Astros

The first two games of the series against Houston haven't gone exactly as the Cubs had hoped. Despite playing the major league worst team, the Cubs still haven't been able to consistently turn out wins. Now they find themselves relying on Doug Davis to be the stopper, hoping that he can have at least one quality start on the season.

Davis, at 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.95 WHIP, hasn't managed a quality start all year. He's coming off of a start against Pittsburgh, when he gave up four runs in just 4.2 innings pitched on four hits and six walks. Over his career against Houston, he's 3-11 with a 4.59 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. Carlos Lee is 7-for-13 against Davis over the course of his career.

Pitching for the Astros will be Brett Myers. Myers has had a similarly difficult season, and is currently 1-4 with a 5.11 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. In his last game against Chicago this year he pitched seven innings, giving up just one run on eight hits while striking out five.

The weather in Chicago is expected to be sunny and clear, with a game time temperature around 80 degrees. First pitch is at 1:20 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on WGN.
