Gavin Floyd has played the roll of stopper for the White Sox many times this season. Though he's coming off of a loss in a disappointing start against Baltimore, he's been relatively consistent for the White Sox, and he and Philip Humber are just about the only good parts of the current rotation.
Floyd is now 3-2 on the season with a 4.39 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. He's either very good or very mediocre in his starts this season -- in three starts he's given up four, six, and six earned runs, while in the other three he's given up zero, two, and two runs. In his career against Seattle he's 2-4 with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. Chone Figgins, Ichiro Suzuki, and Milton Bradley have all had some degree of success against Floyd over their careers.
Pitching for the Mariners will be Doug Fister. Fister has had a good start to the season and is 2-3 with a 2.70 ERA and 1.31 ERA. In his career against the White Sox, Fister is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Juan Pierre and Alexei Ramirez are both 3-for-7 off of him, each with a double.
The weather in Seattle is expected to be cloudy with a chance of showers and a game time temperature in the high-40s. First pitch is at 8:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on WGN and ROOT Sports.
