John Danks, still winless on the year, will try to help the Sox bounce back after they were no hit by Francisco Liriano and the Twins on Tuesday night. The no hitter was the first of the 2011 season, and seemed to be an exclamation point on the struggles of the White Sox over the last few weeks.
Danks, at 0-4 with a 3.92 ERA and 1.33 WHIP, has seen the quality of his starts diminish in recent trips to the mound. In his most recent start, against Baltimore, he gave up five runs on eight hits over just six innings. Against the Twins in his career, he's 6-7 with a 5.06 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. Danks has had trouble against many of the Twins bats, including Denard Span, Michael Cuddyer, Justin Morneau, and Joe Mauer.
Pitching for the Twins will be Nick Blackburn. Blackburn has, like Danks, had a rough time in the 2011 season so far. He's currently 1-4 with a 5.14 ERA and 1.64 WHIP. In his career against the Sox, Blackburn is 6-5 with a 3.95 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Gordon Beckham, Carlos Quentin, and Alexei Ramirez have all hit him hard in the past.
The weather in Chicago is forecast to be sunny and chilly, with a high in the mid-50s. First pitch is at 1:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on WGN.
