White Sox Host Twins For First Time In 2011

The White Sox will host their ever pesky division rival the Minnesota Twins for the first time in the 2011 season on Tuesday evening at U.S. Cellular Field. The Sox, who narrowly avoided a four game sweep by Baltimore on Monday, will be looking to right their ship and take advantage of the similar struggles of the Twins, who still only have nine wins on the season.

Starting for the Sox on Tuesday will be Edwin Jackson. Jackson, who started the season off well, has gone through a string of rough starts, giving up four, seven, and six earned runs in his last three trips to the mound. He currently sits at 2-3 with a 5.86 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. In his career against the Twins, Jackson is 1-3 with a 7.76 ERA and 1.91 WHIP. Justin Morneau and Michael Cuddyer hit Jackson well, with .429 and .667 averages against him.

Pitching for the Twins will be Francisco Liriano. Liriano, who had a great rebound season in 2010, is off to a poor start. He is 1-4 with a 9.13 ERA and 1.90 WHIP. In his career against the White Sox, he's 3-3 with a 5.51 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. Paul Konerko is .316 lifetime against Liriano, and Alexei Ramirez is .500 with two doubles.

Weather in Chicago is expected to be cloudy and cool, with a game time temperature of around 40 degrees. First pitch is at 7:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on CSN.
