Though they're still six games under .500, the White Sox find thesmelves in the position of gaining a sweep over the team with one of the best records in baseball, the Cleveland Indians, during their short two game series. Going for the sweep will be Gavin Floyd, who will try to rebound after a disastrous start last week at Oakland.
Floyd has been, with three exceptions, a solid starter on the season for the Sox. He's currently 4-3 with a 4.22 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. In his career against Cleveland, he is also 4-3, with a 5.44 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Asdrubal Cabrera is 4-for-9 against Floyd with a double, and Shin-Soo Choo has a .429 average against him with one home run and 9 RBIs.
Pitching for the Tribe will be Fausto Carmona. Carmona, who bounced back in the 2010 season, is off to a decent start for the Indians. He's 3-3 with a 3.94 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. He's faced the Sox once before this season, in a blowout game on April 1st that saw the Sox win 15-10. In that game he gave up ten runs in just three innings pitched, and both Adam Dunn and Carlos Quentin hit home runs.
The weather in Chicago is forecast to be partly cloudy, with a game time temperature in the low-60s. First pitch is at 7:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on WCIU and STO-HD.
