Matt Garza Tries For First Win Against Cardinals

Though Matt Garza notched his first win on the season two weeks ago, he has never notched a win against the St. Louis Cardinals. He'll go for his first win against the Cards tonight at Wrigley Field, as the Cubs try to bounce back from a disappointing effort on Tuesday night.

Garza, currently 1-4 with a 4.43 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, has started only one game against the Cardinals in his career. From that start he is 0-0 with an ugly 12.46 ERA and 2.77 WHIP. Few of the current lineup for the Cardinals have had much experience against Garza. Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina are both 1-for-3, while Matt Holiday is just 2-for-9.

Pitching for the Cardinals will be Jake Westbrook. Westbrook has been uneven on the year, with a few great starts and a few truly terrible ones. He's currently 2-2 with a 6.14 ERA and 1.75 WHIP. He has started only two games in his career against the Cubs. Across those two, he's 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. Of the current lineup, only Carlos Pena has seen much success against Westbrook. Pena has a career average of .313 with five doubles and four homeruns against the St. Louis pitcher.

The weather at Wrigley is expected to be cloudy, with a chance of scattered thunderstorms and a game time temperature in the low-70's. First pitch is at 7:05 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on CSN and ESPN.
