Cubs And Cards Meet At Wrigley

Tuesday night at Wrigley Field will see the first meeting of the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 season. Coming along with St. Louis will be former Cubs shortstop, Ryan Theriot

Taking the mound for Chicago will be Carlos Zambrano. Zambrano, at 4-1 with a 4.23 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, is coming off one of his better starts of the season in Los Angeles. There he gave up just one earned run on five hits over eight innings of work. In his career against the Cardinals, Zambrano is 12-6 with a 3.42 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Albert Pujols has hit him well, with a .273 average, five doubles, and five home runs against him.

Pitching for St. Louis will be Chris Carpenter. Carpenter has had a rough 2011 season so far and is still in search of his first win on the year. He's currently at 0-2 with a 4.19 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. In his career against the Cubs he's 10-6 with a 3.10 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. Both Marlon Byrd and Aramis Ramirez have hit him well, with .364 and .333 averages against him. Ramirez has also taken him deep twice.

The weather tonight is forecast to be warm and partly cloudy, with a game time temperature in the mid-70s. First pitch is at 7:10 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on WGN and FS-M.
