Adam Dunn Undergoes Emergency Appendectomy, Will Miss Up to Five Days

Adam Dunn underwent an emergency appendectomy on Tuesday night and will miss up to five days of action, according to Peggy Kusinski of NBC Chicago.

White Sox DH Adam Dunn went 0-4 in the team's extra inning 7-6 loss to the Royals on Tuesday. But he felt even worse after the game. Dunn had Sox head trainer Herm Schneider drive him to a Kansas City emergency room after the game and ended up having an emergency appendectomy.

Dunn is hitting .286 in four games this year with a .474 on base percentage; which is even more impressive after the 0-4 showing yesterday. He signed with the White Sox this year after two incredibly productive seasons in Washington. According to Doug Padilla of ESPN, the injury isn't bad enough to force Adam Dunn to head back to Chicago early.
After having the laparoscopic procedure, Dunn will stay with the team and travel back to Chicago on the team charter Wednesday night. The White Sox play the Tampa Bay Rays in their home opener on Thursday afternoon.

We'll have more information on Dunn's status as it becomes available in this stream. For more on the White Sox, check out South Side Sox.
