White Sox Go For Series Win Over Yankees

Edwin Jackson will look to bounce back against the New York Yankees on Thursday night as the White Sox go for a series win at Yankee Stadium.

Jackson had his worst start of the season at Detroit when he went only 5.2 innings while giving up eight runs (seven earned) on twelve hits. He also walked four and struck out three. Much of Jackson's problems at Comerica could be traced to his inability to throw his slider for strikes, which is typically his out pitch. Against the Yankees over his career, Jackson hasn't fared so well. He's 2-5 with a 4.83 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez have both hit Jackson pretty well in their careers. Jeter has a .355 average against Jackson with with a double, triple, and a home run, while Rodriguez has a .409 average and three doubles and three home runs.

Going for the Yankees will be CC Sabathia. The Yankees ace is off to a solid start on the season, at 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. In his career against the White Sox, Sabathia is 16-4 with a 3.82 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. Though he has been slumping overall, Gordon Beckham has hit Sabathia well during his career. Beckham has a.364 average against Sabathia with two doubles.

The weather in New York is forecast to be partly cloudy with a low in the low 50s. First pitch is at 6:05 P.M., and the game will be televised on CSN.
