On Friday night, weather permitting, the White Sox will send Philip Humber to the mound to take on Jered Weaver and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Of course, whether the game will ever be started is uncertain. The city of Chicago has braced for a wet weekend as a weather front has moved in, threatening rain, thunder, and severe winds from Friday evening through Saturday.
If the game is played, the White Sox will look to improve their 7-5 record against Angels, also at 7-5. Making his second start of the season will be Philip Humber. Humber is currently 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. In his first start against Tampa, he threw six innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks, while striking out four. Humber has little experience against the Angels, having pitched in only one game against them. During those two innings he allowed two hits and a walk, with one strikeout.
Taking the mound for the Angels will be Jered Weaver. Weaver has had a fantastic start to the season, going 3-0 with a 0.87 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. Against the White Sox, Weaver is 4-2 with a career 1.70 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. The only member of the White Sox lineup who hits Weaver decently well is Juan Pierre. Pierre has a .435 career average against Weaver over 23 at-bats, with two doubles and a triple.
First pitch for tonight's game is at 7:10 P.M., and the game will be televised on CSN+ and FS-W.
