Blackhawks Vs. Red Wings Score Update: Teams Tied At One After First Period

The battle for the Western Conference's Central Division is all square at 1-1 after the first period, thanks to a goal on a penalty shot from Chicago Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews. With the Detroit Red Wings up 1-0 late in the first, Toews drew a hooking call on Detroit's Nicklas Lidstrom and converted the penalty shot on goalie Jimmy Howard.

The Red Wings jumped out to an early lead thanks to Justin Abdelkader, who netted his third goal of the season on assists from Drew Miller and Danny Cleary. They will start the period, though, fending off a Blackhawks' power play for 1:43, after Toews drew a second hooking penalty on Lindstrom.
