Northern Iowa Vs. Wofford Score Update: Panthers Earn 28-21 Victory

Northern Iowa's 28-21 victory over Wofford was everything that a college football playoff game should be. The Panthers took advantage of three Wofford turnovers, as well as two Tirrell Rennie TD passes to advance to the Quarterfinal round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Football Championship.

Wofford, which came into the game as the leading rushing team in the country, put together a typically dominant performance on the ground. Mitch Allen rushed for 156 yards, while Eric Breitenstein added 131 yards and 3 TD's on the ground. However, the Terriers lost three fumbles over the course of the game, including a stunning miscue in the fourth quarter.

After the Panthers took a 21-14 lead thanks to a TD run by David Johnson, Wofford fumbled the ensuing kickoff in the end zone. The Panthers managed to recover the fumble, which extended the lead to 28-14. Although Wofford was able to narrow the deficit with two minutes remaining, the Panthers held on for their first playoff win since 2008.

Northern Iowa will face Montana in the next round of the playoffs, as the Grizzlies earned a convincing 41-14 home win over Central Arkansas.
