Sourthern Illinois Vs. Clemson Final Score: Salukis Fall 83-75 In Overtime

SIU couldn't hold on to a late lead against Clemson on Friday.

Southern Illinois had a win against a major-conference foe within its grasp on Friday afternoon at the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii, but they faltered down the stretch and allowed the Clemson Tigers to rally and force overtime, where the Tigers prevailed, 83-75.

SIU held an eight-point lead with less than four minutes to play in the second half and had a two point lead and the ball with 11 seconds remaining when Davante Drinkard was fouled. But Drinkard only hit one of two free throws, leaving the door open for Clemson. The Salukis decided against fouling in the final 10 seconds and Tigers' guard Rod Hall was able to penetrate, score and draw a foul. The old-fashioned three-point play tied the game and sent it to OT.

In the extra period, Clemson outscored SIU by a 21-13 margin.

Mamadou Seck led SIU with 18 points, while Tanner Smith scored a game-high 26 points for Clemson.
