The Northern Illinois Huskies (6-3), winners of four straight, head to Ohio to take on the Bowling Green Falcons (4-5) in a game that strongly favors the Huskies. Looking to stay atop the Mid-American Conference standings, the Huskies will probably need to present a greater defensive display than last week, when they eked out a 63-60 win against the Toledo Rockets.
Currently sitting atop the West Division of the MAC with a 4-1 conference record, the Huskies have a solid chance to pull ahead of the Rockets (also 4-1) with a win against the struggling Falcons -- who have lost four of their previous five games.
Mike Breese of Red and Black Attack warns the heavily-favored Huskies may be treading into a trap game:
It's a tough situation for the Huskies, but they should come out as victors on paper ... The Huskies just need to hold on to the ball and play smart. The game will come to them if they play sound special teams and capitalize on whatever mistakes BG makes.
If the Huskies can win this game, they will head home to finish the season against the Ball St. Cardinals and the Eastern Michigan Eagles -- a schedule that strongly favors more Northern Illinois success.
