We already knew that the Chicago Bulls would be looking for help on the wings, and at shooting guard in particularly, as they hope to upgrade before the beginning of the abbreviated 2011-2012 season. According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, that has them looking at Caron Butler.
Butler, 31, received an NBA championship ring as a Dallas Maverick last season, but he missed essentially the entire second half of the season. Shawn Marion took his place in the Mavericks lineup and turned out to be a major cog as the Mavericks made their run to the NBA title.
In addition to the Bulls, the Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks are also reportedly looking at Butler. He made $10.5 million last season, average 15 points and four rebounds a game when healthy. In his career, he averages 16.6 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists a game.
