Blackhawks Vs. Sharks Score Update: Scoreless After The First Period

The Chicago Blackhawks wanted to get off to a fast start in San Jose to begin the team's annually treacherous "Circus Trip", but the Sharks were ready for Chicago's onslaught attack. The two teams battled furiously at HP Pavilion, but neither could convert one of the ample scoring chances. The result was a scoreless first period that registered as more exciting than the final tally would indicate.

Chicago out-shot San Jose 10-5 in the period. The 'Hawks have been powered all year by the Patrick Kane-Marian Hossa combination, and the line featuring both stars again shined. Kane ripped four shots at San Jose goalie Antti Niemi, but the former Stanley Cup hero for Chicago turned away all of them.

Logan Couture put two shots on net for San Jose, but starting Chicago goalie Corey Crawford turned away every Sharks' chance.

San Jose Dan Boyle drew a pair of two-minute penalties in the first period.
