It definitely wasn't the most attractive of wins, but a win is a win. Notre Dame hung on to defeat Boston College 16-14 on Senior Day in South Bend. With the win Notre Dame improved to 8-3 after starting the season 0-2. Boston College fell to 3-8.
The Irish were lead on Saturday once again by quarterback Tommy Rees, running back Cierre Wood, and wide receiver Michael Floyd. Rees finished with 256 yards on Saturday, while Wood ran the ball for 94 yards, and Floyd added 10 receptions for 92 yards.
The Eagles did put forth a great effort in their rivalry game with the Irish. Boston College was able to keep the score close most of the game against the heavily favored Irish, and cut the lead to two points with two minutes to play. Notre Dame would recover the onside kick, run out the clock, and hang on for the victory in their home finale.
Things won't get any easier for the Irish. Next week they travel to California to face the Stanford Cardinal.
