The Bears, just six days from their season opener against the Detroit Lions, have named team captains:
↵↵↵The offense will be led by C Olin Kreutz and QB Jay Cutler. The defense will be directed by LB Brian Urlacher and DE Julius Peppers. LS Patrick Mannelly will head the special teams. Chicago’s five captains have a combined 51 years of NFL experience and 18 Pro Bowl selections between them.

All of the captains are team veterans, except for Peppers, who was signed as a free agent in the offseason. That shows the respect players and coaches have for the new arrival; let’s hope he has as much impact on the field when the games begin.
