Bears Cut Afalava and Scott With More To Come

It has begun. The Chicago Bears initiated its required roster-trimming effort today with one, perhaps surprising name: Al Afalava, the safety who started 13 games for the team last season. Another safety, Quentin Scott, has also been notified that he’ll be waived.

And it doesn’t stop there. Center Tim Walter, cornerbacks Woodny Turenne and Cornelius Brown, and linebacker Tim Shaw all will be let go.

According to league sources queried by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, wide receiver Freddie Barnes as well as linebackers Kevin Malast and Kelvin Smith are also expected to be cut.

Stay tuned, Bears fans.
