Bears Set To Sign Rod Wilson To Replace Hunter Hillenmeyer

Chicago Breaking Sports reports that Rod Wilson, who played LB for the Bears from 2005-2007, is about to be signed to return:

The team was finalizing a deal Wednesday with the veteran to take the place of Hunter Hillenmeyer on the 53-man roster. Wilson, a seventh-round draft pick by the Bears in 2005, played for the team from ‘05-’07 and made 16 special teams tackles that final season.

As the Tribune reported Tuesday, Wilson came in Wednesday morning for a visit and passed his physical. The team then told him it had not made a decision on what it wanted to do. Wilson went out to lunch while the club explored other options, believed to be in the trade market.

No word on what Wilson had for lunch. SB Nation Chicago hopes to have final word on this potential signing sometime Thursday.
