Gregor Blanco, Wilson Betemit and Mitch Maier each had three hits and drove in one while Alex Gordon was 2-for-4 with an RBI as part of an 18-hit barrage for the Royals, who snapped a four-game slide.
Kila Ka’aihue was one of the two players without an RBI but collected three hits, walked and scored twice as Kansas City provided starter Kyle Davies (8-9) with plenty of run support. Davies went six innings and held Chicago to one run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Edwin Jackson (3-1) was shelled for 13 hits and six runs in five-plus innings to suffer his first loss since joining the club at the trade deadline. His last loss was to Philadelphia on July 28.
Paul Konerko hit his 34th home run, doubled, walked and scored twice in four plate appearances for the White Sox, who lost for the fourth time in five games and slipped to 5 1/2 games back of first-place Minnesota in the AL Central standings. The Twins are in action against Cleveland Saturday.
