Via ESPN Chicago, we learn that Geovany Soto, who didn’t play Saturday, will also be rested Sunday:
Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella said he’ll rest catcher Geovany Soto and rookie outfielder Tyler Colvin on Sunday when the Cubs try to avoid a sweep against the Cincinnati Reds.
Neither played Saturday in a 4-3 loss.
“[Soto] had a little tendinitis [in his throwing arm],” Piniella said. "I think he’ll be ready for San Francisco on Monday.
“We’re hoping he’ll be able to back up tomorrow.”
