Linebacker Brian Urlacher, out of practice all week, will not play against the Arizona Cardinals and likely not against the Cleveland Browns, a game that will not see a number of veterans in action.

And while position decisions have still not been finalized, strong-side linebacker Nick Roach is out after minor knee surgery. Roach was the starter there last season but could lose out to Pisa Tinoisamoa, who was the starter to start 2009.

It’s just preseason — right? More concerning is the report in that article that rookie safety Major Wright, who was supposed to be a, er, major contributor this year, is still nursing a fractured finger back to health and may not be ready for the season opener vs. the Lions.
