Multiple reports had Kenny Williams making a run at the Dodgers’ Manny Ramirez, who is currently on the DL.
↵Of course, there’s a catch:
↵↵↵… the Sox wanted the Dodgers to eat all but $1 million of the $6.7 million that Ramirez is owed, with no players coming back in exchange. Sources said the trade was dead, but Ramirez figures to clear waivers and could be dealt in August.

Manny would likely DH for the Sox; if this unlikely deal happens, he’d join his former Dodger teammate Juan Pierre on the South Side. Pierre wound up subbing for Manny while he was on his 50-game PED suspension last year.
