AZCentral.com reports that Mayor Scott Smith of Mesa, Arizona has narrowed down the possible sites for Cubs spring training to three:

Sites at Riverview Park and its golf course, downtown and northeast Mesa are emerging as the most likely homes for a new Chicago Cubs spring-training complex as the city attempts to finalize a plan to sell to voters by late September.

Mesa Mayor Scott Smith confirmed the three front-running locations and said momentum appears to be building for Riverview and downtown Mesa.

Sources tell The Deep Dish that the front-runner among the three “front-running locations” is likely Riverview, a development area near the intersection of two major Phoenix-area freeways, providing easy access for fans.

A vote is scheduled for November to approve funding.
