Hall of Famer (doesn’t that sound good?) Andre Dawson was asked about the managerial qualifications of his former teammate Ryne Sandberg. His response may surprise you:
↵↵↵“It’ll be very tough,” Dawson told “The Mully & Hanley Show” on WSCR-AM 670. “I think at the major-league level, there’s a huge difference. When you’re working with kids you’re trying to develop kids, you get a sense more of joy and pleasure out of seeing their development. But you’ve got attitudes and egos at the major-league level and you got to make sure you’re very prepared for that.”

It would seem to the Deep Dish that Sandberg, who played 16 major league seasons and is a Hall of Famer too, would be able to deal with those “attitudes and egos."
