Cubs Seek Second Straight Over Cardinals, Weather Permitting

The Cubs shut out the Cardinals Friday afternoon. In so doing they broke a major league record held by St. Louis:

The Cards, who were held to one hit the day before by Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels -- snapped a major-league record of 2,370 games without consecutive shutouts.

This afternoon, the Cubs' Tom Gorzelanny will face the Cardinals' Blake Hawksworth, who had been a reliever until about a month ago when moved into St. Louis' rotation. The game will begin at 12:05 Central time, if the rain currently forecast for the Chicago area lets up, and will be televised on CSN Chicago.
