The Blackhawks made a minor swap today, sending Marty Reasoner to Florida for Jeff Taffe.
Reasoner will head south without having ever played a game for the Hawks; he was acquired in the multi-player deal centered (pun intended) around Dustin Byfuglien last month.
In an era when salary cap space is pre-eminent in making a NHL roster, this deal saves the Hawks about $600,000 in cap space. This extra cap space may help the Blackhawks keep Antti Niemi, but if not, ESPN Chicago's Jesse Rogers has some alternatives.
