Marlon Is A Rare Byrd, Making Something From Nothing

More Marlon marvelousness: Byrd’s game last night was only the 18th time in Cubs history, and the first since Jeff Huson did it on April 20, 2000, that a Cubs player scored at least three runs without a hit.

A few other notes about this unusual feat:

↵
    ↵
  • Andy Pafko is the only Cub to score four runs without a hit; he did it on April 19, 1947.
    ↵
    ↵
  • Don Kessinger and Ron Santo accomplished the three-runs-on-no-hits feat twice.

    ↵
  • The only Cub to do this in a loss was Pete LaCock in the first game of a doubleheader against the Dodgers on August 13, 1976; they blew a 7-2 lead and lost 8-7, fairly typical for those mid-70s teams.
