Sox Equal Best 30-Game Stretch In Team History

… with a small catch.

↵

For all 30-game stretches in White Sox history, the most games they have won is 25 — the same streak they are on right now, 25-5. They have accomplished this in six different seasons: 1906, 1917, 1951, 1953, 1983, and now 2010.

The catch is that the “best” streak is actually 25-4, done three times with a tie game in the 30-game stretch. Since recent rule changes prevent tie games, this can never happen again.

The good news for Sox fans is that in the five previous years a streak like the current one happened, they won two pennants (1906 and 1917, both World Series winning years as well) and won 99 games and the AL West another time (1983).
