Cubs Manage To Score And Tie Game, But Lose In Extras

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) – Drew Stubbs drove in the game-winning run in the tenth inning to lift Cincinnati to a 3-2 win over Chicago in the opener of a four-game set at Wrigley Field.

Joey Votto, Scott Rolen, Orlando Cabrera, Jay Bruce, Jonny Gomes and Corky Miller each had two hits for the Reds, who outhit the Cubs 16-5 to earn their third win in the last four games.

Jordan Smith (1-0) earned his first major-league victory with a scoreless ninth inning and Francisco Cordero recorded his 22nd save with a spotless tenth.

Bob Howry (1-2) was charged with the loss after yielding the decisive run while recording just one out for the Cubs, who have dropped three of four.
