Sox Bullpen Implodes, Gives Up Six In Seventh

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) – Brennan Boesch hit a three-run homer during a six-run seventh inning, which lifted the Detroit Tigers to a 7-2 victory over the White Sox in the opener of a three-game series.

Carlos Guillen, who finished 3-for-5, added a homer and Ryan Raburn hit a two- run double during the inning, as the Tigers won for the fourth time in six games.

The sudden surge of offense bailed out Armando Galarraga, who made his first start since his near perfect game last Wednesday. Galarraga allowed seven hits — one a two-run homer by Mark Kotsay — and two walks in five innings.

Matt Thornton (2-3) allowed five runs during the seventh inning for the White Sox, who have dropped five of seven.
