Cubs Take Lead In 8th And 9th, Blow Lead In Both, Lose 3-2

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) – Casey McGehee’s dribbler up the middle off Carlos Marmol in the ninth inning gave the Brewers a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over the Cubs in the opener of a three-game series.

With runners on second and third and two outs in the ninth, McGehee fell behind 1-2 before working the count full and taking an outside pitch back through the mound to score Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder with the tying and go-ahead runs.

It was the third blown save of the season for Marmol (1-1), whose efforts spoiled Ted Lilly’s eight innings of one-run ball.

Corey Hart had a solo homer for the Brewers, winners of two straight following a three-game slide.
