The Cubs selected Connecticut Huskies second baseman Pierre LePage in the 13th round with the 400th pick.
LePage is by no means a household name, but his resume from this past season is rather impressive.
LePage, UConn’s lead-off man from Wolcott and Loomis Chaffee, struck out only three times in 348 at-bats during the season, an attribute that had to impress scouts despite his 5-foot-7, 175-pound frame. LePage hit .327 with three homers and 57 RBI and 29 steals in 35 attempts as the Huskies (48-16) set a school record for victories in a season.
