Chicago Breaking Sports has the details on what Zambrano’s reinsertion means to the rest of the Cubs’ rotation.
The Cubs decided to move Carlos Silva in the rotation and will start him against Pittsburgh on eight days rest in the make-up game on Monday at PNC Park.
Silva originally was scheduled to go tonight against Houston, but Carlos Zambrano’s start was pushed back, forcing the Cubs to alter their rotation plans.
That is the easy part to understand. The rest of it could get a little hairy.
Ryan Dempster will now pitch on Saturday against Houston’s Roy Oswalt, with Randy Wells going Sunday against Brett Myers. Ted Lilly will start the first game of the Milwaukee series next Tuesday at Miller Park.
That suggests the rotation against the White Sox in the June 11-13 series at Wrigley Field will be Wells, Silva and Lilly, respectively.
