Quentin Homers To Give Sox The Win

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) – Carlos Quentin atoned for a missed catch by clubbing the go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning, boosting the White Sox to a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers to avert a three-game sweep.

Quentin dropped a fly ball off the bat of David Murphy in the fourth inning. That led to a run, but Chicago came back from a 3-1 deficit to win for just the fourth time in its last 12 home games. Andruw Jones and Alex Rios added solo home runs.

Freddy Garcia (5-3) was charged with seven hits and three runs — two earned — over seven innings to win four the fifth time in six decisions. Bobby Jenks recorded his eighth save.

Colby Lewis (4-4) struck out seven, but was tagged with the loss after surrendering seven hits and four runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Michael Young had two hits and an RBI for the Rangers, who lost for the fifth time in seven games. They scored nine times in each of the first two games of this series.
