According to azcentral.com, the City of Mesa will hold a news conference later today to announce a new deal to keep the Cubs in Mesa for spring training:
↵↵↵Mesa officials are scheduled to announce details of a new plan to finance construction of a spring training facility for the Chicago Cubs at a press conference on Thursday morning.
↵The press conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday and will include Mesa Mayor Scott Smith, City Manager Chris Brady, Cactus League President Robert Brinton and Gary Levine, general manager of the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa hotel, and other civic and business leaders.

Regardless of any current feelings about the state of Arizona due to the passage of their recent law about immigration, the Cubs’ long tradition in Arizona, the easy logistics of spring training in the Phoenix area, and the great March weather all mean the Cubs belong there.
