Your Monday TV Sports Schedule

It’s Monday. You’re probably back at work wishing you were enjoying this bright, sunny summer day. So if you weren’t at work, you would likely not be watching TV.

↵

If you were, though, here are some of your sports choices for today. All times Central:

↵

8:30 am, ESPN: World Cup, Slovakia vs. Netherlands.

↵

2 pm, ESPN: World Cup, Brazil vs. Chile. Both of the World Cup games will send the winner to the next round, the loser back home.

↵

6:30 pm, ESPN: College World Series. This is the final round, which is a best-of-three series between UCLA and South Carolina. It’s also the final CWS to be played at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, which has hosted the event for more than 60 years; next year it will move to a new, naming-rights-sold stadium near downtown Omaha.

↵

7 pm, CSN Chicago: Cubs vs. Pirates. There’s actually some drama here, even with the Cubs’ bad season. They’re 2-7 against the even worse Pirates. Can they come back and beat their 2010 tormentors?

↵

7 pm, WCIU-Ch.26: White Sox vs. Royals. The Sox have won 15 of their last 17, and resume their AL schedule in Kansas City. The problem for TV viewers is that you need a special receiver and secret decoder ring to watch WCIU. Good luck.
