On weekends in the summer, there’s generally a lot of golf. And this weekend, more Wimbledon. But I’m going to give you choices that are all baseball, except for one I think you’ll be interested in (all times Central):
↵1 pm, ESPN2: College World Series, UCLA vs. TCU. At last, one that means something. The winner moves on; the loser goes home.
↵1:30 pm, ABC: World Cup, USA vs. Ghana. Again, the winner continues, the loser goes home.
↵3 pm, MLB Network: Phillies at Blue Jays. This game was supposed to be played in Toronto, but was moved due to the Rogers Centre being within the security perimeter of the G-20 economic summit. So the Blue Jays get to bat last, wear their home uniforms and use the DH… and be booed by Phillies fans. MLB should have had these games played at a neutral site, not Philadelphia.
↵6 pm, Fox: Cubs at White Sox. In its version of 1970’s TV, Fox still regionalizes “national” games. Thus, you can see this game in Chicago, and also in the rest of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky (except Lexington), Minnesota, Missouri (except Joplin and Kansas City), Dakotas, Wisconsin, Grand Rapids, Marquette, Traverse City, Cincinnati and Dayton; anywhere else, you’ll see either the Yankees and Dodgers or Red Sox and Giants.
