Jerry Reinsdorf, Peacemaker?

The White Sox have been in turmoil much of this season, although their current five-game winning streak has them on the edges of contention and within a game of .500.

Maybe that’s why Jerry Reinsdorf has asked Ozzie and Kenny to cool their feud:

‘’Yeah, I spoke to each of them separately,’’ Reinsdorf said. ‘’The stuff was in the paper, and I said, ’You guys can’t have this kind of bulls—-. You have to work together.’ That was basically it. Go make up. I didn’t use those words. I said, ‘We can’t function if you are not going to get along. You can have your fights like you always have, but it can’t continue because we can’t function that way.’ They both agreed, and as far as I know, they are back to normal.’’

Both Williams and Guillen have a lot of rope because of their shared World Series title on the South Side in 2005. Baseball, like all sports, is a “what have you done for me lately” business. If the Sox keep winning, both men’s jobs are probably safe, at least for the rest of this year.

Who knew that Jerry Reinsdorf would be the guy to help his squabbling manager and GM make nice?
