Two years ago, the White Sox signed Cuban third baseman Dayan Viciedo, reportedly to a $11 million contract.
↵Via tweet from Tribune Sox beat writer Mark Gonzales, Viciedo has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, where he was hitting .288/.328/.515 with 13 HR in 233 at-bats. Though a third baseman, Viciedo has played mostly first base in the minors this year.
↵Jayson Nix was designated for assignment to make room for Viciedo. Sun-Times Sox beat writer Joe Cowley tweets that Nix is out of options and “Oz said he hopes someone picks up Nix”.
↵Viciedo will make his major league debut Friday in Washington … against Stephen Strasburg.
